Appolonia City has officially broken ground for a new children’s playground. This development aims to revive the tradition of dedicated play areas for children in Ghana, harking back to the days of the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park and the National Trade Fair Centre, which once boasted of vibrant play spaces for the younger generation.
Appolonia City’s new playground is more than just a recreational space; it is a testament to the community’s commitment to fostering a holistic environment where residents can live, work, and play. Perminas Marisi, Country Head of Rendeavour, the parent company of Appolonia City, highlighted the significance of this development during the groundbreaking ceremony. “The benefits of healthy playtime have been well documented, and we want to ensure our residents benefit from this. Live-work-play is our definition of a complete life,” Marisi stated. He continued by quoting Fred Rodgers, the American educator; “play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
By incorporating recreational facilities into the urban planning, Appolonia City is not only addressing the housing deficit but also enhancing the quality of life for its residents. The playground will provide a safe and engaging space for children to play, socialize, and develop crucial physical and cognitive skills.
Ghana has long missed the dedicated play areas that once dotted its landscape. The new playground at Appolonia City marks a revival of this important tradition, providing modern, safe, and accessible play areas that meet contemporary standards. This initiative is expected to set a benchmark for future developments across the country, encouraging other communities to prioritize recreational spaces for children.
As construction of the new playground progresses, Appolonia City remains steadfast in its mission to create a dynamic and inclusive urban space. The playground is just one of many amenities planned to support the live-work-play lifestyle that defines the community. With this development, Appolonia City is not only building homes but also creating a legacy of sustainable and joyful living for future generations.
Appolinia City is a 2,325-acre mixed use, fully serviced, master-planned, controlled development by Africa’s largest urban developer, Rendeavour, who is building seven cities across five African Countries -Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
